Client and Project
Platform88 helps consumer product startups get from an idea to a product on the shelf: design and engineering, manufacturing in its own and partner factories, and the logistics and sales channels after that. It started in Shanghai and now runs nine factories across China, Cambodia, India and Thailand, for crowdfunded brands such as Hidrate, Stojo, Firebox and Masontops.

Brand, web and build
Five years with one client, from the first logo and website to the redesign that is still live.
The diamond mark and wordmark, color and type.
The first site, built around the Build and Scale methods.
The WeChat party invitation and the sales decks for three hubs.
Concept directions, a new sitemap and wireframes for 14 pages.
Gotham type scale, components and a 48px icon set.
Theme, Elementor build and launch of the redesigned site.
Logo, color and type
A diamond mark beside the Platform88 wordmark, in one confident blue. The mark also works alone, as the favicon and the short form, and the same blue runs through both websites, the hub decks and the invitation.

The Build and Scale methods
The first site explained what Platform88 does in two words, Build and Scale, gave each its own page of services, introduced the team, and asked visitors to start with a short project form.

From concepts to wireframes
Five years on, Platform88 had grown into a network of factories in several countries and the old site could not show it. The redesign started with concept directions, then a new sitemap and wireframes for all 14 pages before any visual design.

Information architecture
Fourteen pages in five groups. The two methods stay at the top, factories and clients each get a listing and a detail template, and the company pages carry the team, partners and sustainability.
Desktop view, 2020
The home page leads with the network, factories in several countries, then the Build and Scale methods, client stories, the factories and sustainability, and ends on one clear invitation to start a project. Shown here in full, top to bottom across three columns. The window below scrolls through the full page.

Methods, factories, clients and company
Each method page lists its services with an icon and a photograph. Factory and client pages share one template each, so a new factory or case study is added in WordPress without new design work.

Outcomes across five years
Two websites, one brand. What the client got from keeping one designer from the first logo to the redesign that is still running.
The diamond mark and the blue carry the first site, the WeChat invitation, the hub decks and the redesign.
From five pages about two methods in 2015 to fourteen pages that show the factories, clients, partners and sustainability.
Factory and client pages share templates in WordPress and Elementor, so the team adds a factory or a case study themselves.
Three hub decks in one format, each with its own product categories, factory resources and case studies.
The 2020 redesign is still live today, now showing nine factories in four countries.
